Melanie Johnsen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her B.A. in Interpersonal Communications at Purdue University and received her Masters in Social Work from Indiana University. Melanie has eight years of counseling experience across a variety of treatment settings: outpatient, community-based, foster care, adoption, and school-based.
Melanie serves children, adolescents, adults, and families in individual, family, and group therapy. Her interests and specialties include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, anger and stress management, grief and loss, peer pressure, attachment issues, and self-esteem. Melanie also has experience and training in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
When working with her clients, Melanie uses a strengths-based approach, patience, and empathy, providing a supportive environment within the therapy process. Her approach to therapy is eclectic, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
